amberSearch secures €2.1 million seed funding to accelerate AI adoption for SMEs

Aachen, Germany | 25 March 2025 | amberSearch, a German technology company providing AI-powered search solutions, secured a €2.1 million seed investment from Ventech, a pan-European early-stage VC deeply rooted in Germany, with participation from angel investors. With the funding, amberSearch aims to scale its AI-powered search engine and companyGPT solution, enhancing connectivity between employees and AI agents within the company’s knowledge base. The firm plans to further develop its custom AI Assistant to automate workflows, manage company data, and establish a strong foundation for AI-driven automation.

A trusted solution, driving AI adoption for SMEs

Founded in 2021 and with almost half a decade of experience in AI-operations, amberSearch has already established itself as a provider of enterprise search solutions. The company’s product is integrated at over 200 small- and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland, including RSM-Ebner Stolz, Schüßler-Plan, and Zentis. amberSearch enables employees to instantly retrieve documents, data and insights from internal company sources by streamlining queries into a single AI-powered search engine and chat interface. This helps SMEs automate workflows and increase productivity by reducing search time by 40% or more.

Unlike many solutions that are confined to a single platform or ecosystem, amberSearch connects multiple platforms, not only US-American but also European software systems. This allows businesses to connect to their entire knowledge base, no matter where it is stored. Additionally, amberSearch links both on-premise and cloud-based systems, ensuring a flexible and scalable solution. This versatility makes amberSearch an asset for organizations looking to streamline operations without being locked into a specific ecosystem.

Philipp Reißel, co-founder and CEO of amberSearch: “Our mission is to bring the power of AI to SMEs, especially in more traditional sectors – such as manufacturing – where companies have a wealth of information and data to manage but often struggle with AI adoption due to complexities, resource constraints and concerns over data security. amberSearch bridges this gap with a plug-and-play architecture that requires minimal IT expertise, lowering the entry barrier to AI adoption”.

The amberSearch solutions are deeply integrated within a company’s own IT ecosystem. All processes operate in a secure IT-environment ensuring full compliance with privacy regulations and internal guidelines, while maintaining existing access rights for employees.

Automating workflows by enabling AI agents

With the newly secured funding, amberSearch aims to evolve beyond enterprise search to become the central AI Assistant for businesses. The company aims to accelerate AI-driven automation by equipping AI agents with the knowledge and tools needed to perform tasks.

Bastian Maiworm, co-founder and CRO of amberSearch: “Businesses can only leverage AI agents effectively when these agents can interact with the know-how of internal company systems. To make this possible, interfaces need to allow the agents to trigger processes and retrieve information. This is what amberSearch provides. We want to allow the automation of workflows by enabling AI agents to retrieve information while seamlessly integrating into enterprise environments. It’s all about making businesses more efficient and competitive”.

Nicolas Barthalon, Investor at Ventech, Munich, added: “In only a few months, amberSearch has already proven its ability to implement AI at a large scale, adeptly sifting through the complex web of corporate data to harness undocumented company processes and staff expertise. This has led to impressive adoption and usage within organizations, positioning amberSearch at the center of SME’s workflows. We are beyond excited to partner with its A-suite team and leverage Ventech’s global resources to support the company’s accelerating growth trajectory. With this funding round, we’re confident amberSearch is poised to enhance the experience for amberSearch’s clients significantly.”

amberSearch was founded by the RWTH Aachen University alumni Bastian Maiworm, Igli Manaj and Philipp Reißel. The company has a team of 30 employees based in Aachen and Cologne.
